Our good friend, and featured artist on Subtempo, Regina deJimenez, will be opening a new exhibition at the American Museum of Art in Madrid together with designer Leyre Valiente called Lords of Xibalba, exploring the mayan underworld and pre-hispanic cultures through textile art. February 16th until March 19th.

This activity is within the initiative Madrid Es Moda of ACME ( Spanish Fashion Designers Association )

Xibalba, the Maya underworld, kingdom of the gods of disease and death: the Ajawab or Lords of Xibalba. It does not represent hell since death and disease were seen as part of existence, not as punishment. Life was understood in complementary pairs; day and night, life and death.
